![]() I suspect the firware mod will widen the tolerance allowed on some position sensor to prevent the diag from being initiated.Īpparently it's not a dangerous problem since they let me drive off in the thing. I might add that I'd not seen in this blog anyone mention that the behavior is temperature dependent, more frequent in cooler weather. The a smart engineering company you send the fix to a small subset initially to find out if there are any unintended negative behaviors. I was told that Europe and Japan have already had a roll-out of the firmware fix. I actually didn't pay much attention to the explanation. The clicking was explained as something to do with the system undergoing diagnostics. The issue smelled like firmware to me, having developed software and firmware interacting with actual mechanical devices for 25 years. Today the dealer explained that GM wants no boosters replaced, and that a firmware fix will be issued 1st quarter of 2021. They had ordered to brake booster about a month ago after I had explained the problem directly to the tech. Just got my 2017 Bolt back from the dealer today. Did that help get the problem fixed? I'm out of the 3/36 warranty by time. I've seen in other threads people have called Chevy. My local chevy dealer was nice enough to look at it for free but of course no codes, so no problem. I did buy an extended 3rd party warranty with the car but figured I would try to fix it myself before dealing with that hassle. My thought is maybe a part wears a bit and allows the brake pedal to come back too high. Which got my thinking, is there any adjustment to the brake pedal possible to perhaps keep the pedal from returning back as high? I bet if I could adjust it even 1/16th of an inch it would stop the problem. ![]() Anyway I noticed the noise will stop if I just barely hit the pedal. However, Tesla does not appear to use this signal given they do not blend regen braking using the brake pedal (Tesla uses the accelerator pedal). Naturally it didn't happen during my test drive or I thought it was some weird EV thing. There is a pedal travel sensor inside the iBooster Module itself and appears to be used to provide data for blending regen braking and for the iBooster itself to control brake boost. However that clicking brake booster noise has popped up. So far it's been awesome and I'm really enjoying it.
